Modern Classroom Fellows

At the core of our efforts are change-making teachers.  Our Fellows are expert teachers who have completed our online training and been selected through a rigorous application process.  We support these teachers with ongoing consultation, educational technology, and stipends.

  • Current Role: Chemistry and AP Chemistry teacher at Eastern High School in Washington, DC.

  • Background: Former chemical engineer at Procter & Gamble and Google Inc.

Bernadette DeSario

  • Current Role: Social Studies teacher at T.C. Williams High School in Alexandria, Virginia.

  • Background: Fifteen years of teaching, first in Chicago Public Schools and then in District of Columbia Public Schools.

  • Modern Classrooms Experience: “This approach has made teaching more enjoyable. I spend more time working with students and less time managing them.”
