You probably already know that teacher-created videos can deliver new content to students.  This is why I created my first video back in 2014, and the primary reason why many of our teachers continue to record them.

Yet as I’ve become more comfortable making videos -- and have started to see teachers around the world building videos of their own -- I’ve realized that videos can be used for so much more than simply explaining new material.  For instance, videos can:

• Model good academic habits.  Show students how to take good notes, guide readers through a complex text, or give tips on studying for assessments.

• Inspire independent inquiry.  Expose students to new problems and challenges, or push them to go beyond the scope of the curriculum.

• Explain complex processes.  Demonstrate how to use a spreadsheet, walk students through a lab, or explain digital sound production (in Spanish).

These are just a few examples from our teachers’ work.  The possibilities are endless!
